Dublin City Wedding Shoot

Last November I was asked by the lovely ladies in Pretty As A Picture to do the makeup for a wedding shoot in Dublin.

So together with some amazing wedding suppliers we styled a Dublin City wedding which would inspire couples thinking of getting married in the city. The ceremony was photographed in Dublin City Hall, then we moved on to St. Stephen’s Green and finally the reception took place in Locks Brasserie on the canal. Below are some behind the scene shots from the day…

The team involved were…

Printed material: Pretty As A Picture | Photography: Brosnan Photographic

Styling: The Bridal Lounge | Hair: Lorraine Browne Hair

Flowers: The Garden Powerscourt | Dresses: Little White Dress

Video: Best Day Productions | Food & Drink: Caterhire

Music: Sounds of Serendipity | Cake: Bake My Cake

Locations: City Hall, St. Stephens Green & Locks Brasserie

Models: Amber Jean Rowan and Jordan Ralph both from Morgan The Agency

Dublin City 2

Dublin City 5

Dublin City 6

There was a huge amount of planning and coordinating on everyone’s part and I really think the final shots are a beautiful reflection of the hard work. It was such a pleasure working with this team of talented people and I hope they inspire you as much as they did me!

You can see more of the shots here in my portfolio or pop on over to Style Me Pretty for a look at all the photographs.

Clinique & Estée Lauder Concealer

Two products I’ve been trying out lately are both concealers one from Clinique and the other from Estée Lauder.

The Clinique Airbrush Concealer is one I’ve spotted on Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube video’s a couple of times and really wanted to give it a go. I’m a big fan or the YSL cult product Touche Eclat and this claims to have the same brightening qualities but unlike the Touche this is a concealer as well. I really like this product and have been using it quite a lot. It’s nice and light with a lovely texture and does a great job of hiding those dark circles under the eye’s. It also has the same handy brush applicator as Touche.clinique_estee_lauder

The second product which I got a sample of from the lovely girls in Boots is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Concealer. I actually had this a couple of weeks before I remembered I had it and decided to give it a try. I hadn’t heard anything about it or read any reviews but I really love it. It’s creamy with really good coverage yet not cakey and it lasts really well. It’s great for those days you don’t fancy wearing a full face of foundation but still need some help hiding redness, blemishes or dark circles. I was really impressed.

Have any of you tired either product? What did you think?

Spring 2013 Collections

It might not feel like Spring yet with the cold temperatures but the days are slowly getting brighter and Spring has certainly hit the make-up counters in the form of gorgeous pastel and earthy shades to flatter everyone.

Two of my favourites are from Chanel and Dior.

I’ve always been a sucker for Chanel’s classic black packaging but the colours in their Spring collection really have me wanting more. Browns, taupes, plums all colours that flatter us all and the most gorgeous lip colours that will really work for you all year round. I especially love the Illuminating powder… so gorgeous!

Dior have gone with more pinks and greys which are so beautiful and I love the bow shaped palette (below) with cute little brushes. Perfect for your handbag and a lust have for palette obsessed girls like me!

The White Room, Mullingar & Pretty As A Picture

Working in the wedding Industry I already had lots of idea’s on the different aspects of our wedding and some suppliers that I loved, so with so many of you in the throws of planning I thought I’d share two of them with you which might give you some more idea’s.

When I started looking for my wedding dress I had a pretty fixed idea of what I liked and I didn’t like, so I had a list of shops that I knew stocked the type of dress or particular style I had in mind. It was a short enough list but never being one to go with my first choice we looked at and tried on a lots of dresses (I have a very patient mother!). While all the shops we went too were very helpful and had some of the most beautiful dresses it was The White Room in Mullingar that had the dress of my dreams.

This shop is a must go for any bride-to-be! They are so helpful and calming and while some of the shops we went to were cramped and busy, The White Room was beautiful, spacious and you have the place pretty much to yourself. One thing that really struck me was how pristine the sample dresses were. They were spotless and looked brand new! There was one dress in particular that I wanted to see here (my wild card and nothing like what I thought I’d end up wearing) but when I tired it on I knew. I tried on a few others, just to satisfy my curiosity, but came back to the one I had my eye on and that was it. The girls were so friendly and made the whole experience so easy, it was a pleasure dealing with them.

So how does The White Room link with my second supplier, Pretty As A Picture? Well, as a gift from my mum on the morning of the wedding she presented me with the most beautiful sketched drawing of my dress! Now I have worked with the girls from Pretty As A Picture before so I knew their talents with designing wedding stationery and always adored Ailbhe’s wedding dress drawings, so when I saw the picture of my dress I was so thrilled! It was perfect, even down to my shoes (which Ailbhe hadn’t seen). It was just the perfect gift, especially since most of us never get to wear our dresses again and if you decide to sell your dress this is a fabulous way of having it forever. I just think this is such a unique gift for any bride and would be perfect from bridesmaids, family members or best friends.

Below are some pictures of my dress and the gorgeous drawing.

Thank you so much to both The White Room and Pretty As A Picture for being a part of our big day.

SAG Awards 2013

The SAG Awards 2013 (or Screen Actors Guild Awards) were held over the weekend and with it of course came plenty of style and amazing dresses. The one which stood out a immediately for me was Marion Cotillard’s stunning Dior Haute Couture silk gown. I adore the strapless top combined with the full skirt and bow detail – she looks so chic. The pockets add a really nice modern touch – and of course so pratical for carrying your lippy for those touch ups! The colour was stunning on her and her make-up reflected it beautifully.

For make-up it was both Marion and Michelle Dockery which I loved. They both went for a smokey eye with lashings of black eyeliner and mascara but while Marion kept her lip colour soft and pink, Michelle went for a berry red shade which looked fabulous with her pale skin and picked out the copper tones in her wavy bob. Gorgeous!
