Firstly, apologies. It’s been a while since I’ve done a post, and for good reason, I promise 🙂
2014 has been a great year for me so far, both personally and professionally. This summer I became a mum for the first time to our baby girl and while I was settling into motherhood (and getting used to 2 hours sleep a night) I got the news that I had won Best Makeup Artist in the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Award 2014.
Needless to say I was gobsmacked and over the moon. In a category with other amazing artists from all over the country, I was so chuffed and honoured to be picked.
This was their first year and these awards were slightly different to others, in that you are nominated by your past clients and then your brides or grooms from the year are asked to give a review of your services. This, for me, made it even more special. As a wedding supplier, you are part of one of the biggest events in any couples lives and to be acknowledged for my work and know that they appreciate the pride I take in my job makes me a very happy makeup artist!
I just want to thank all my lovely brides who took the time to send in their reviews and know that it means the world to me to have been a part of your big days.
Well done also to the guys at Mrs2Be for organising such a great way of acknowledging wedding suppliers in Ireland and supporting us in what we do. Continued success in the years to come!
So the Oscars 2014 took place last night and I was delighted to see the style this year. Very classic, elegant and soft.
Makeup wise – smokey, smudged liner and soft lips seemed to very popular with Angelina Joile, Kate Hudson and Maria Menounos being three of my favourites from the night and Margot Robbie who has gone from blonde to dark locks went for a simple liner and rich berry tone with her lipstick.
Hair was all about soft styles with polished Hollywood waves being very popular and some lovely up do’s.
You can see my favourite frocks from the night on my Facebook Page
If you’re getting married over the coming months or next year and you haven’t decided what make-up style you might like to wear then the red carpet is always a good place to look for inspiration. Below are 4 of my favourite looks from this years awards which would work perfectly for brides and there’s something for everyone…
Reese: Soft and pretty with smudged eyeliner for a soft smokey eye, pink blush and pink lip.
Jennifer: Again very soft with a silver grey shadow, liquid liner, peach cheeks and nude lip.
Amanda: Don’t be afraid of colour. Purples look amazing on green eye’s and by keeping the rest of the make-up clean and subtle it’s looks fresh and modern.
Alexa: A hint of vintage with a clean defined liquid liner, fresh skin with just a soft flush on the cheeks topped off with a strong lip.
So which one would you wear on your big day?
The SAG Awards 2013 (or Screen Actors Guild Awards) were held over the weekend and with it of course came plenty of style and amazing dresses. The one which stood out a immediately for me was Marion Cotillard’s stunning Dior Haute Couture silk gown. I adore the strapless top combined with the full skirt and bow detail – she looks so chic. The pockets add a really nice modern touch – and of course so pratical for carrying your lippy for those touch ups! The colour was stunning on her and her make-up reflected it beautifully.
For make-up it was both Marion and Michelle Dockery which I loved. They both went for a smokey eye with lashings of black eyeliner and mascara but while Marion kept her lip colour soft and pink, Michelle went for a berry red shade which looked fabulous with her pale skin and picked out the copper tones in her wavy bob. Gorgeous!
