YonKa Masque No.1 & Gommage 303

I started using YonKa products a few years ago when I was introduced to them in Powerscourt Springs Day Spa in Wicklow. They’re made from plant and fruit extracts and smell divine so I fell in love with them straight away. They’re also said to be the secret behind Angelina Jolie’s amazing complexion so if it’s good enough for Angelina!

They are a little pricey so they were only ever a treat, however on my last two visits to my local spa, White Pebble Day Spa in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, I decided to treat myself and bought the Masque No.1 and Gommage 303 (pictured below). The Masque No.1 is great for dry, dehydrated skin. You can use it as a mask that you leave on for 20/30 mins or you can leave it on over night for a more intense treatment. It’s a life saver during the winter months when your skin is suffering from exposure to heat and cold and I really noticed a difference. The second, Gommage 303 is an exfoliant. You apply it like a mask in a nice thin layer but when it dries you rub it off in a soft circular motion and it will remove the dead skin cells with it. It smells amazing and really works. If you have very sensitive skin the Gommage 303 might be a little strong but YonKa have a wide rang of products for all skin types so there’s something for everyone.

You don’t need to use a lot of either of these products so they should last you quite a while and the good news, White Pebble Day Spa are having a YonKa Sale at the moment so I know where I’ll be going this weekend 🙂

Inspired by Hollywood Icons

The great female Hollywood icons are a huge inspiration to me as a make-up artist. The timeless beauty of actresses such as Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Maureen O’Hara and Marylin Monroe still influence the beauty and fashion industry today. I adore everything about their style from the strong brows, the beautifully defined eye’s and lips, their flawless skin. I would have loved to lived in this era. With the amazing fashion and women weren’t afraid to embrace their curves and play up their best features. They were so glamourous and feminine, love it!

Kates Tribute To Elizabeth

In the September/October Heroes issue of V Magazine, Kate Winslet pays tribute to legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor, shot by well known celebrity photographer Mario Testino. I love Kate, she is a real woman who knows herself and a true hollywood star. She’s so striking, which is probably why she’s the face of Lancome but in these shots, with the darkened brows and defined eyeliner I think she’s even more stunning. Styled by Carine Roitfeld, she looks very like Liz, especially in the first shot which is my favourite, it’s just so beautiful and a fitting tribute to the late actress.
